Wordless Wednesday (Eggroll)

Obsessed!

As mentioned before... Joey has become obsessed with, among other things, our wine rack. Sure we are working on training him that the wine is not his. We pick him up, take him over to his toys and tell him that these are Joey's things instead. It may take a while. Here he his over the course of a few days last week testing us.

I know that Tempranillo is good...it's just not yours little turkey!

An Afghan For Joey

Joey got an Afghan of his own this week. It was lovingly made by CJ. As in the CJ who created the T21 Traveling Afghan. We are so honored to have been a part of that project and Joey will always treasure his very own afghan.

He was very excited when we told him we had a very special present for him.

He pulled it right out of the box.

And checked it out.

Here he decides that he loves it.

I could not get over all of the smiles!

He seems to know how very special this gift is.

Thank you CJ for the beautiful afghan and for all the hard work you do for children with Down syndrome. Joey loves his very own afghan!

Joey Versus the Rug.

These days Joey's favorite toy is anything that isn't a baby toy. The remote control, a cell phone, the cord of the vacuum cleaner, a magazine...you get the picture. He is getting around doing the belly crawl and man is he fast. The second I turn around to do something he is our of there and heading towards anything but his toys. These last few days he has been obsessed with the rug on the floor by our front door and my wine rack. I will post the pictures of Joey versus a 2005 Tempranillo next time. Here he is tackling the rug.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day. But for Joey we never would have paid any attention to it. He has opened up our eyes to so many new things. Thank you Joey, and to all of our little friends with a little something extra in the chromosome department, for teaching us to appreciate different and wonderful things life sometimes offers, like Down Syndrome. You are a blessing and we love you and all of the wonderful people in the Down syndrome community we have met this last year!

Joey's First Birthday Party With His Friends

Finally here are some pictures from Joey's first birthday party with his friends on February 20, 2010. This was the third and final birthday party he had. Most of his good friends were there.













Along with a couple of music therapists from Music to Grow on. It was a blast. Joey is getting into the group music sessions these days. It is so cute.

And then there was the third try with a birthday cake.

This time he got really into it.

And so did I. You should have seen me when he was finished with me.

Thank you everyone who came for making Joey's first birthday party with his buddys a memorable one. I will try to be better with posting. Things have been sooooo crazy busy around here!

Almost Wordless Wednesday (Auntie Jo)

Jo was one of the first people to come visit Joey in the hospital when he was born. We really appreciate all the love and support we have gotten from Jo over the past year. She has become like a Sacramento Auntie to Joey. Thank you for everything Jo.
